The Bride and Groom each take a tapered candle, which
are then lit. As they hold their individual candles,
Reverend Debby speaks. Once she has finished, the Bride
and Groom then light the center Unity candle with each of
their candles in unison......they then gently blow out the
flame of their individual candles, leaving the Unity Candle
lit.
This ceremony can also be done with the family of
each the Bride and Groom (representing each separate family
before the marriage) lighting the individual candles, which
then the bridal couple take and light the Unity Candle,
representing the union of the families through the grace of
marriage.
Reverend Debby:
_______&_________, each of you holds a single candle,
symbolic of your individual light and lives before this day.
Together, you shall light a single candle which represents your
lives now from this moment on. As this one candle light
cannot be divided, neither can your lives be divided.
May the radiance of this one light be a testimony of your marriage and a
shining beacon of your love and your commitment to each other.
